Photopolis is a city wide celebration of photography taking place in Halifax in October and November. I will be giving an artist talk Saturday, November 8, 10 am at Viewpoint Gallery. Have a look at the Photopolis website for a complete list of events.
March 2009 I'll be partnering with the Parkinson Society Maritime Region with a show,"Hope and Growth", at the Craig Gallery in Alderney Landing Dartmouth with the proceeds going to that Society .Working on that will keep my creative itch scratched for a while:)
The Art Bank of Nova Scotia purchased 2 of my photos for their collection, Torso #1 and Torso #2 from my recent show Identity.
Excitement is brewing about Budge Wilson's new book (a prequel to Anne of Green Gables) My portrait of her is on the book cover, on the Penguin site as well as mine. http://www.100yearsofanne.com/gables-wilson.htm.
Also new are the product of my summer travels.'Atlantic Coast'( photos of East Ironbound Island and one of East Quoddy Light on Campobello Island). There is a gallery of photos of the 'Emily Marshall'. A beautiful boat and a wonderful sail. Thanks Bruce. I've included a link to his website for Brooklin Charters.
Congratulations to Maureen Hull on her book "A View from a Kite" (which includes my author's photo)
Expressive oil painting, figure drawing and sculpture are the background I bring to photography.
The common threads are people and creativity.
I enjoy doing a variety of portraits. I call them 'portraits that work'. These have included a young actor's photo for his agent,
photos to update a lawyer's website, an author portrait for a book and a portrait of a golfer for the front page of an article for a national golf magazine.
For the past several years I've been teaching "Introduction to Photography for Interior Designers"
at CompuCollege several times a year.
I am an active member of Viewpoint Gallery in Halifax
