Craig Gallery, 2009, Dartmouth, NS. I have illustrated the impact of Parkinson's disease through various portraits. There is no complete set of symptoms experienced by everyone. Each person is unique. For some the disease is lurking in the background unannounced. The dark background in 'John' suggests the impending progression of the disease. (The glass jar suggests slowness and stiffness of movement) At the other extreme, in 'Angus', the disease has become quite advanced, seriously distorting Angus's life with tremors and stiffness of movement. The colours are clear and not muddied indicating some clear element of his personality remains. Hope
